What to Do with Hazardous Waste Materials

Protect yourself and the environment. Keep yourself safe by putting only acceptable garbage and recycling materials in your carts and bins. Simply follow the directions below to get rid of oversized, special or hazardous materials. It's easy!

Special items

Items such as applicances, auto batteries, metal auto parts and tires are prohibited wastes and cannot be accepted in the garbage or the curbside recycling program. Call us at 607.2042 for details about how we can help take this stuff off your hands!

Hazardous/toxic materials

Gasoline, oil/gas mixtures, liquid paint, petroleum products, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, thinners are prohibited wastes and cannot be recycled or thrown away in the garbage. Please call Lane County Waste Management for information on how to dispose of these items through the Household Hazardous Waste program at 687.4120.

Motor oil; transmission or hydraulic fluids

Yes, we can pickup these fluids for you! Simply pour motor oil, transmission or hydraulic fluids into an unbreakable (no glass!) one gallon container with a tight, screw-on lid and set next to the bin for pick-up.

Biomedical materials

State law prohibits the disposal of many biomedical materials into the regular trash. Call us for more information on how to safely dispose of these materials.
